Stadtman Tenure-Track Investigators

Purpose
Each year NIH aims to hire upwards of 10 researchers through the prestigious Stadtman Tenure-track Investigators program. The program enables candidates to bring their ideas for basic science research to NIH. A tenure-track position will be created for successful applicants at an NIH Institute or Center. Eligibility
Candidates must
- have an M.D., Ph.D., D.D.S./D.M.D., D.V.M, D.O., R.N./Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree
- have an outstanding record of research accomplishments as evidenced by publications in major peer-reviewed journals
- be in early stages of their research careers or non-tenured early-to-mid career scientists
- be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or non-permanent residents who can obtain a valid employment-authorization visa
- pass a federal background check

Federal Background Check
To be approved for access to NIH facilities and systems, candidates must be able to pass a federal background check, using Standard Form-85 (read SF-85 (PDF, 204 KB) ). NOTE: Section 14 of the form asks, “In the last year, have you used, possessed, supplied, or manufactured illegal drugs?” The question pertains to the illegal use of drugs or controlled substances in accordance with Federal laws, even though potentially permissible under state laws.
